A2 Motorway

The A2 Motorway (Hemus Motorway) is the motorway designed to pass the length of Northern Bulgaria by connecting Sofia and Varna. Some 130 km of it have been built, while its total length is designed to be 433 km. According to the plans, Hemus motorway would connect the capital city of Sofia to Varna on the Black Sea, duplicating European route E70 (Varna-Shumen), European route E772 (Shumen-Yablanitsa) and European route E83 (Yablanitsa-Sofia).
